Place quoted 680 bucks to change water pump on an F150. That seemed high to me so I called around. I got a significantly cheaper quote so decided to take the truck else where. I apologized to Steve for deciding to take the truck elsewhere, just trying to be polite. Instead of just saying no problem, he proceeded to say you get what you pay for, which is why I am writing this review. Sometimes you do get what you paid for, which can often be a quality repair for a fair price. Other times, you get what you pay for means handing over 2x the money to a smug a-hole such as the shop manager Steve at ASR. If you wrench on your own stuff from time to time, definitely steer clear of here. Also, I don't know what it is like for women trying to get repairs done, but this place will take you for a ride I am sure. Edit: response to owner's reply: thanks for the reply, despite there being a misunderstanding in the price, your quote was still 230 dollars more than the other shop (we paid 450 out the door for the pump installed at another shop). I know enough about water pumps to know the price difference is not parts and that is a straightforward install so shouldn't cost me 2.5 hrs more in labor. Lastly, the comment Steve made was in person not on the phone so I wouldn't expect you to have heard it.
Wesley, I looked into this. I found your ticket. The $808 was a total price for everything. Including the other services, we performed for you. I guess all I can say is that there is always someone willing to do a job cheaper. We could have shopped around and found a cheaper water pump if the price was all that was important to you. We have no issue doing that for someone wanting to save a buck or two. We tend to use higher quality parts and from vendors that give us a 3yr 36,000-mile warranty. One other thing to keep in mind that auto repair shops are going to vary in price. Any good business is going to price its products and services according to a wide range of expenses, employee costs, and parts costs. We all have different costs of doing business. I guess that we failed to show you the value of our work and doing business with us. We will do better. I am a little confused as to why you said our service advisor is a "smug a-hole"? We record all of our incoming and outgoing phone calls... I listened to all the calls. (I would be willing to share with anyone who cares to listen.) I am sorry but I heard him being very courteous and understanding. In fact, he did say "Yeah no worries, it's no problem I'll let the tech know" he left it at that. I don't really feel we deserved a 1 star for the service we provided for you. We gave you clear and honest communication, we respected your time and got back to you quickly with estimates, and completed the oil change and diagnostics for you when said we would. I guess thanks for the review, not only 5-star reviews are important but the number of reviews is also important. Thank you for adding to our total number of reviews. If there is any way to reconcile our miss understanding please reach out we are there for you if you need us.
